Kuwait has approved the use of ‘Sotrofimab’ as a treatment for the coronavirus.
The GSK together with Vir Biotechnology created the drug, which could be used for treatment of mild to moderate cases of Covid-19.
The UAE also approved the drug’s use earlier in the week, followed by Bahrain.
Research indicates that use of the drug helps reduce the number of cases requiring hospitalization for more than 24 hours and a reduction in number of fatalities by 85 percent, when the drug is administered in early stage of treatment.
Meanwhile, Kuwait has also announced a donation of $40 million to COVAX, the international program designed to help supply developing nations with vaccines against the disease.
