Domestic workers allowed entry into Kuwait from 7th December

01 December 2020

Kuwait has announced that domestic workers are allowed to return to Kuwait from 7th December. This announcement comes after the Weekly Cabinet Ministers meet yesterday.

The government spokesperson, Tareq Al Mazrem pointed out that the cost of quarantine will be KD270, apart from the flight charges.

According to Civil Aviation Spokesman, Saad Al Otaibi, all preparations are done, and are ready to welcome domestic workers back to Kuwait after 10-month halt.

He further revealed that an online electric platform would be launched shortly for sponsors to register the information of domestic workers prior to their arrival in the country.

Although, 80,000 domestic workers are likely to return to Kuwait, at present, there is a cap of 600 workers per day, to prevent overcrowding and long queues.

Two weeks back, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that they are in talks with local airlines to determine a fixed cost for flight.

The price for an airline ticket is KD110 for those coming from India, KD200 for those from Philippines, KD145 for those from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

It is said that the costs are fixed, because if the market were to decide the cost, it would increase considerably, as the number of seats are limited.
