Kuwait embarks on massive Covid-19 vaccination drive from today

24 December 2020

Kuwait has embarked on a massive Covid-19 vaccination drive for nationals and residents today, with its centres all set to receive thousands on a daily basis.

Kuwait will be receiving doses from overseas on a monthly basis for a period of one year, and joins other countries in the region for widespread inoculation drives, including from the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The Director of Public Health Department in Kuwait, Dr. Fahad Al Qimlas said that those who wish to get vaccinated will have to register their requests.

The elderly and frontline workers will be the first to receive the vaccine, said Dr. Basel Al-Sabah, while also assuring that the ministry was keen to get everyone vaccinated.

Two halls at the Kuwait International Fair were allocated for the vaccination program, and additional centers in the governorates of Al-Jahra and Al-Ahmadi have been allocated.

Meanwhile, the health authorities in the country have addressed rumours around the vaccine, and have urged public to only depend on official sources for information.
