All examinations to be held online until vaccines made available

19 November 2020

As Kuwait is still battling to control the coronavirus, the Kuwaiti health authorities have rejected the request from Education Ministry on holding paper examinations.

The Health Ministry demanded that all tests at all educational levels should be conducted online until vaccines against the coronavirus are made available, said Dr. Mustafa Reda, the Undersecretary of Health Ministry.

“In view of the repercussions of the epidemiological situation, the spread of the coronavirus and concerted efforts to limit its effects and perils, the Health Ministry is of the view that tests for all students at all education levels in the current period must be conducted online until the health situation becomes stable in the country and until the availability of the necessary vaccines against COVID-19,” Dr. Reda added.

Earlier in the week, the Kuwaiti media reported that after Pfizer, BioNTech announced that the Covid-19 vaccine they are working on has proven to be more than 90 percent effective. The Kuwait Health Ministry has ordered 1 million doses of the vaccine.

So far, Kuwait has reported 134,932 cases of coronavirus, and 830 related deaths.
