Kuwait has secured the top position in the Arab world and holds the 48th global rank in the prestigious “Social Progress” Index, as per the findings released by the American non-profit organization “Social Progress Imperative” (SPI) in collaboration with Harvard Business School.

In this comprehensive index, Kuwait achieved an overall score of 73.44 out of 100 points in the index, excelling with 92.27 points in the basic human needs category, 71.42 points in foundations of well-being, and 58.64 points in the opportunities index.

A total of 170 countries were evaluated. United Arab Emirates followed Kuwait closely, securing the second spot in the Arab world and 51st globally. Qatar claimed the 65th position, Oman stood at 68th, while Jordan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia secured the 84th, 89th, and 90th positions, respectively. Tunisia, Lebanon, and Algeria followed closely, ranking 91st, 96th, and 97th, respectively.

The Social Progress Index encompasses three key areas: basic human needs (such as nutrition, water, and shelter), foundations of well-being (including basic knowledge, telecommunications, and environmental conditions), and opportunities (encompassing political rights, freedoms, tolerance, discrimination, and higher education).
