Director General of the Municipality, Eng. Saud Al-Dabbous has announced plans to issue a circular prohibiting handshakes within mourners’ halls.

This is In response to a communication from the Ministry of Health to the Kuwait Municipality, urging precautionary measures to safeguard public health.

The Ministry of Health emphasized the need for these measures in a letter to the municipality, highlighting the importance of taking all necessary precautions to curb the spread of infectious diseases. The specific concern addressed in the circular is the potential transmission of infections through handshakes among mourners in cemeteries.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Health, spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad reassured the public on the Ministry’s website, stating, “The recommendation and guidance to offer condolences by exchanging looks at graves are part of the broader initiative to promote safe and healthy habits in our daily lives. Fortunately, the current health situation within the country is reassuring, thanks to God.”

The forthcoming circular from the Kuwait Municipality aims to implement these health guidelines and foster a safer environment within mourning spaces, aligning with the national effort to combat the spread of infectious diseases.
