Kuwait to have warm winter this year

Kuwait is in for a warm winter this year, with anticipated normal rainfall. Despite a slight rise in temperatures, there are expectations for colder air masses towards the end of January and the beginning of February, causing a temporary drop in temperatures, especially during the night in desert areas.

Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi, Director of the Meteorology Department at Civil Aviation, stated that the ongoing rainy season is expected to continue until May 31, with normal rainfall predicted. Although temperatures have risen recently, the chances of rain are deemed suitable for outdoor activities such as camping, thanks to moderate winds and stable weather conditions.

As for the upcoming summer, seasonal forecasts indicate it will likely fall within normal temperature ranges. Dust density during summer depends on weather systems, their depth, and the lack of rain in surrounding areas, particularly the Iraqi desert, a significant source of dust in Kuwait.

The Meteorological Department suggests that the holy month of Ramadan, coinciding with March this year will experience moderate weather. Temperatures during the previous two Ramadan periods reached 8 and 9 degrees Celsius at night.

Adel Al-Saadoun, President of the Astronomical Society, discussed the historical climate patterns in Kuwait, noting a recent anomaly of warmer weather at the beginning of January. The possibility of a “Shabat cold” in the next 10 days could bring colder temperatures.

Meteorologist Fahd Al-Otaibi highlighted the typical winter season, cold days, and extremely cold nights expected after mid-January. Rainfall during this period is forecasted to be light to moderate. As Kuwait enters the spring season, weather fluctuations, including dust storms and thunderstorms, are anticipated.
