Law amendment mandates salary transfers through banks for expat workers

The Council of Ministers in Kuwait amended Article 57 of the Private sector Labour Law No 6/2010, which states that some activities are exempted from transfer of salaries of expat workers to local bank.

The sources revealed that the amendment now mandates the Public Authority for Manpower to seek copies of the lists of salaries paid to national and expat employees through the banks.

According to sources, this reflects that the law requires employers to transfer salaries and other entitlements of national and expat employees to their respective personal bank accounts.

The sources also said that the Council of Ministers will soon issue a decision to regulate expenditures and commissions pertaining to such accounts.
