No entry for women to Mosques in Kuwait during Ramadan

05 April 2021

As per the announcement by the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Farid Emadi, only men are allowed to attend tarawih prayers during Ramadan.

Emadi further said that due to the health requirements to reduce the capacity of worshippers in mosques, the women’s prayer hall will henceforth be reserved only for men.

He further said that the Grand Mosque, Kuwait will open for Tarawih and Qiyam prayers and will also be only accessible to men.

Further, there will be no hosting of external sheikhs and preachers as per health protocols that are inline with decisions that are in place by the Cabinet of Ministers.

While Kuwait enforced a partial curfew few months ago, those wishing to pray at Mosques during curfew hours can attend, provided, they walk to the mosque and do not use vehicles.
