05 November 2020

The Ministry of Health in Kuwait is keeping a watchful eye on the current situation of Covid-19 pandemic within and outside the country, amidst reports of steep hikes in infections in several countries across the globe.

The Ministry is also constantly updating its Covid-19 figures, including infections, fatalities, hospitalizations and ICUs admissions etc. The Ministry will consider the available options to protect public health, said a spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr. Abduallah Al-Sanad.

Based on data of the epidemiological situation, the Ministry may resort to reactivation of the partial lockdown if the infection rate continues to rise steadily as is the case in several countries,” he confirmed.

The comments were made by Dr. Sanad in response to growing speculations in local media on possibility of recurrent coronavirus restrictions.

He further pointed out that the Ministry, represented by an expert team from Health and epidemiological sector, reports regularly to the Cabinet about the latest developments of the situation and the possible options to curb the spread of the pandemic.

He urged nationals and residents to strictly adhere to the precautions and safeguards outlined by the Ministry to protect public health from viral illness.
