Kuwait imposes partial curfew to curb spread of coronavirus

23 March 2020

Kuwait will impose partial curfew on Sunday as part of the fight against the novel coronavirus.

The curfew will last from 5pm local time until 4am. Violators would be jailed for up to three years or fined up to KD10,000, said Anas al-Saleh, Deputy Prime Minister. He mentioned that the curfew was imposed due to non-compliance with precautionary measures to fight the spread of the virus.

Al-Saleh also said that the cabinet has decided to further extend the suspension of private and government sectors by another two weeks. Currently, the total infections in Kuwait due to the coronavirus exceeds 176 in number.
