Kuwait extends curfew, public sector lockdowns extended to 28th May

Kuwait has announced that suspension of work in the public sector, including government ministries would continue until 28th May, and the nationwide curfew would be further expanded to 16 hours, as part of its efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Speaking on this, he said that the 4pm to 8am curfew would get effective at the start of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, which is likely to fall on Friday.

The government also decided to allow food delivery services and supermarkets to function between 5pm and 1am daily during the fasting month.

The Cabinet asked the Ministry of Interior and Information to take necessary legal action against violators of home quarantine and curfew, and announce their names in the media.

Kuwait reported 84 new cases of coronavirus infections yesterday, making the total infections in the State to 2080.
