Kuwait expats granted free residency visa extensions for 3 months

16 April 2020

Expatriates in Kuwait, whose visas have expired have been given three-month free extension from 1st March to 31st May.

This new initiative comes amidst the coronavirus pandemic, which has compelled ministries to shutdown to prevent the spread of the disease, said the Interior Ministry.

The extension, however, will only be applicable to individuals whose visas have expired and are still in Kuwait.

The sponsors can apply online through the ministry website.

Early this month, the ministry launched online services to strengthen social distancing aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.

Residents can now do many procedures online like transfer their visas from one passport to another, modify their names in English, and renew their family and sponsor residencies.

So far, Kuwait has reported a total of 1405 coronavirus cases, with 206 recoveries and 3 fatalities.
