The deputation of Indian team of medical experts follows the recent tele-conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, wherein both leaders agreed for a joint and coordinated effort against the global pandemic.

Thereafter, the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, together with his Kuwaiti counterpart had a telecon to discuss the current situation in Kuwait, and consider ways to further strengthen ties during these challenging times.

India and Kuwait share a strong partnership on historical, economic, cultural and people-to-people contacts. Indians constitute the largest group of expatriates with an estimated population of ten lakhs in the State of Kuwait.
