Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has once again asked the Council of Ministers to increase the number of daily arrivals at Kuwait International Airport; which currently stands at 10,000, reports Al-Anba daily.

The DGCA made the request as part of efforts to reduce air ticket prices. With the resumption of direct flights from Egypt and India, ticket prices increased remarkably due to the quota for arriving passengers.

The airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport have exhausted the quota allocated for them; hence, they have been unable to open new destinations. Therefore, increasing the number of arrival passengers will greatly contribute to reducing air ticket prices.

This comes after the news that DGCA will operate direct flights to and from Iraq for a period of two weeks for citizens and their first-degree relatives who intend to visit holy shrines, in light of the closure of Abdally border for more than 21 months, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources from the directorate.
