Kuwait’s Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAFR) has issued a decision lifting the ban on importing all types of live birds, hatchery eggs and chicks from Chile, Australia, and the Dominican Republic as these countries are free from bird flu.

The authority affirmed in a statement to KUNA that all orders should be subject to conditions and controls of PAAFR’S animal health department, in accordance with the procedures of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The agricultural authority added that consignments affected by any of the epidemic and infectious diseases will be rejected, after testing samples at the authority’s laboratory.

If the shipment is found to be infected, the importer would be tasked with returning the affected birds and animals to the destination from which they arrived at their own expense.
