Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (“GCC-Stat”) revealed data that places Kuwait as the second highest Gulf country in terms of population growth, Al Qabas reported.

Kuwait’s population rose around 3 per cent between 2015 and 2019. This is second highest after Qatar, who saw a population growth of 3.5 per cent.

The number of males in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, have increased compared to the rest of the GCC where they saw a decline in the number of males.

As part of the GCC-Stat’s research, the age group between 15 and 64 make up 75.4 per cent of Kuwait’s total population, with males being the majority due to several factors, mainly that expats residing in Kuwait tend to be men that work in the labour market.

With respect to expats, those that are between the ages of 25 and 54 comprise 56.3 per cent of that age group. As for expats above the age of 65, they are decreasing due to several residency laws and only make up 2.8 per cent of the total population of Kuwait.
