Kuwait and Oman have always had a bilateral relationship that was fostered by both countries’ leaders.

The Emir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, ordered that a new highway, the seventh ring road, be named after the late Omani sultan, Qaboos bin Said Al Said.

The decision to name the new highway after the late Omani leader goes to show the friendly and close relationship shared by the two Gulf states.

On January 12, a day after the passing of the late Sultan Qaboos, Sheikh Sabah, along with other GCC leaders, travelled to Muscat to attend the funeral. Then the Emir ordered that all schools and government institutions be closed for three days to mourn the death of the late Omani leader.

After their weekly Monday meetings, the cabinet of ministers issued a statement stating, “based on the supreme order of His Highness the Emir, one of the major roads has been named in memory of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, in appreciation of the important role that he played and the efforts he exerted in supporting the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.”
