The Kuwaiti health ministry is undertaking an intensive investigation in two recently identified hotspots of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The two districts put under a two-week ‘complete isolation’ were Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula, two heavily populated areas where poorer expatriate workers live, according to a report from state news agency KUNA.
Kuwait health minister Dr. Bassel Al-Sabah said, “It will take two weeks to stem the time of the pandemic in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula,”
He recalled earlier warnings that the areas crowded with expatriate workers were most vulnerable to the outbreak as their residents were less responsive to the guidelines of public health.
The minister also noted that some cases of coronavirus wherein the individuals were asymptomatic, meaning they do not manifest symptoms of the disease, which pose problems as they unwittingly spread the infection to others.
