Iran’s ambassador to Kuwait said the Islamic Republic will likely resume exporting goods to Kuwait as of next week after a hiatus caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

In an interview with IRNA, Mohammad Irani said Tehran has assured the Kuwaiti officials that all shipments for export to Kuwait will meet the health standards. The Kuwaiti officials have decided to resume importing goods from Iran, the ambassador noted, saying the processes are going on suitably and the trade exchanges will probably restart next week.

He said the Iranian foodstuff and commodities make up a large portion of the Kuwaiti market, adding, “We have given the Kuwaitis an assurance that the Iranian merchants and producers will observe the health standards.”

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah expressed solidarity with Iran in the battle with the coronavirus epidemic, and unveiled plans for a donation of $10 million to Iran for the fight against COVID-19.
