Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah says ten new marine stations are being established to strengthen the radiation monitoring system and protect the Kuwaiti environment from pollution, according to a press release issued by the National Guard.

He said this during a visit to the two fixed monitoring stations on the two artificial islands of His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Center for Chemical Defense and Radiological Monitoring, reports Aljarida daily.

Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf explained that the two monitoring stations are among the 29 fixed land monitoring stations established by the “Markaz” and distributed in a number of areas of Kuwait. There are five “floater” monitoring stations in the Kuwaiti territorial waters.

The “center” includes the latest equipment and accurate devices to record readings of pollution rates and combat radioactive leakage. It performs its duties through fixed monitoring stations and reconnaissance patrols in selected areas of the country.

The National Guard allocated the center’s system to serve the national goals in the State of Kuwait, with the cooperation of the relevant institutions in the country, to preserve the country’s security and protect its environment from pollution, in implementation of the wise directives of the wise leadership.

During the visit, the Deputy Chief of the National Guard was briefed on the contents of the two stations, including devices for detecting chemical, radioactive and biological pollutants and producing accurate readings of them, and their role in supporting the state agencies concerned with environmental affairs.
