The demand for traditional or Islamic medicine services is increasing on a daily basis, according to indicators of the World Health Organization. This is because of its therapeutic safety, as it depends on the natural herbs described in the traditional medical heritage, and its combination with modern medicine, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The Islamic Medicine Center is located in the Sabah Health Zone. It is a medical, religious and architectural edifice that captivates the mind. It was opened in 1987 in the presence of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad, and it was built at the expense of the late Khaled Yousef Al-Marzouq.

Director of the center Dr. Manal Al-Matar explained that the center seeks to keep up with the medicinal and cognitive needs of its clients, and introduce other types of complementary medicine, such as cupping. The outpatient clinics of the center receive patients who were referred from clinics and health centers. Patients can also visit the center directly depending on the diseases for which treatments are available.

The center’s services are recognized locally and regionally, and are witnessing remarkable development.

Dr. Al-Matar said, “There are currently six clinics in the center, and there is a plan to increase the number of these clinics in the future, as new specialties have been introduced, including cupping.

The center has a medicine factory, which worked during the previous years to manufacture many types of natural plant-based pharmaceutical ingredients free of industrial chemicals, based on the principle of natural herbal medicine, taking into account the ease of use, taste and smell during production, confirming reliance on grinding and mixing devices, and making capsules.
