Kuwait plans to vaccinate children aged from 12 to 15 years against COVID-19 soon as part of an accelerated inoculation drive, according to a top official in health ministry.

Khalid Al Saeed, a member of the Health Ministry’s supreme committee for vaccines, added that administering the vaccination to pregnant women still hinges on findings of safety studies.

“Foster women are, meanwhile, permitted to get the vaccination against COVID-19,” he told Al Jarida newspaper.

In an attempt to accelerate inoculation, authorities last month launched mobile vaccination units targeting workers in mosques and in different commercial activities having direct contacts with the general public.

“This service is part of the Health Ministry’s efforts to confront this pandemic and expand the beneficiary base from vaccination,” spokesman for the Kuwaiti Health Ministry Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.
