Kuwait is considering vaccinating pregnant woman against COVID-19 during the next few weeks as the country has expanded mass inoculation against the potentially fatal ailment.

The move comes after medical studies have proved safe vaccination for pregnant, local newspapers reported.

Health sources cited cited a US study conducted on around 36,000 pregnant women given doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and did not display problems related to safety. Kuwait has authorised administrating the Pfizer-BioNtech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines.

“Achieving the inoculation of over 1 million against COVID-19 means we have made a big stride towards returning to normal life,” spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.
