The spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al Sanad, announced that all citizens and residents above the age of 65 can head to the vaccination centres and get vaccinated without a prior appointment.
Around 8 lakh Kuwaiti citizens and foreign residents have received the vaccine against COVID-19 as the country has sped up an inoculation campaign to limit the spread of the highly contagious ailment, Kuwaiti media reported.
The figure accounts for 20 per cent of the Gulf country’s population, they added without providing a breakdown. Kuwait aims to vaccinate 2 million people by the end of the current Muslim month of Ramadan.
The speeded-up vaccination process comes as Kuwait received the second batch of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine last week. It is estimated that the shipment contained around 129,000 doses.
