The Minister of Health, Dr. Basel Al Sabah, said that the Ministry of Health is expecting to vaccinate two million people by September.

Within the next month, Dr. Basel stated the ministry expects to vaccinate around a million people. So far, more than 400,000 people have received at least the first jab, including half of elderly citizens and a quarter of elderly expats.

A few days ago, Kuwait’s Undersecretary of General Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr Buthayna Al Mudhaf said that the Ministry of Health has vaccinated everyone above 65 - both citizens and residents - willing to take the jab.

In an effort to vaccinate as many people as possible, the Ministry of Health announced it will continue inoculating people even during the curfew hours which began on Sunday and will be enforced everyday from 5.00pm to 5.00am for a month.

While Kuwait is planning to have almost half of the population vaccinated within six months, Dr. Basel Al Sabah pointed out that the goal is contingent on the arrival of the vaccines from the manufacturers as scheduled.

The plan to vaccinate two million people will also coincide with the reopening of schools, which will be contingent on vaccinating all teaching staff.
