Kuwait has announced to limit presence at marriage contract ceremonies as part of increasing restrictions to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Kuwait Justice Ministry has issued an administrative decree on health conditions which the mazuns or marriage registrars must observe while conducting the matrimony contracts.
The mazun must limit presence at the marriage contract session to the would-be husband, a family member, a guardian of the wife-to-be and two witnesses, spokesman for the Justice Ministry Isa Al Beshr said.
By virtue of the decree with an immediate effect, the mazun is committed to ensuring strict abidance of those on hand by precautionary measures including social distancing.
“If the attendees exceed this number, or in case of health violations, the mazun must refrain from conducting the marriage contract,” the official said.
