The first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech arrived in Kuwait early Wednesday morning from Belgium via Emirates Airlines.

Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Sheikh Basel Al-Sabah, announced that the vaccination process will begin on Thursday.

He said the vaccine would be given out in four stages to prioritize those who need it most, and the first stage would include all health care providers, front-line workers and people aged over 65.

He pointed out the first batch, which includes 150,000 doses that will be used to vaccinate 75,000 people, will be allocated for frontline workers and those above the age of 65.

The Mishref fairground has been prepared and organised to serve as the vaccination headquarters. Around 400 employees have been trained to administer the vaccine, operate as administrative staff and ensure everybody is adhering to the health and safety measures put in place by the Ministry of Health.

He said the ministry is keen to vaccinate the largest percentage of the population as possible.
