Airlines to reimburse travellers for cancelled flights

Kuwait suspended international flights from December 21 till January 1 as a precaution to prevent the spread of a new strain of COVID-19.

Kuwait Civil aviation authority has instructed airlines to reimburse travellers for cancelled flights

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a circular that passengers have the right to request refunding the value of travel tickets and hotel reservations as well as other travel services that were revoked from December 21 till January 1 regardless of the booking conditions.

DGCA has given airlines and travel agencies a deadline until February 13 to comply with its related instructions, warning that violations will be handled by a complaint and arbitration committee for action.

The Directorate said that the traveller has also the right to get the reimbursement in cash, or via the credit card, or as a balance valid for one year effective from the date of the circular according to the passenger’s wish.

Service fees charged by the travel offices and airlines are set at KD10 for every ticket for the above-mentioned period in case of direct booking.
