Sponsors of newborn babies who do not get IDs will face fines

22 November 2020

The Kuwaiti Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) announced that sponsors of newborn babies who have obtained residency permits after the resumption of work in government agencies, but did not obtain the Civil IDs within the specified period, will be fined KD20.

PACI announced this decision on noticing that several sponsors of newborn babies did not obtain Civil IDs on time, although they got the residency permits or passports, which now exposes them to the risk of being fined.

It is necessary to pay this fine before issuance of the card for the newborn.

PACI calculates the fine after 60 days from the date of birth, but, the processing of related transactions is allowed through express envelope in the automated machines or online.

The source further said that those with a newborn during the coronavirus crisis are exempted from the fine throughout the lockdown period but, they should have begun the procedures once the work in government agencies resumed.
