Best Architecture Award for Kuwait’s iconic waterfront Al-Kout
Iconic Waterfront project, Fahaheel (Al-Kout), developed by Tamdeen Real Estate Company, has been awarded as the best architecture project. The Al-Kout-Fahaheel Waterfront was chosen among thirteen other nominations from nine Arab countries.
The award will be presented by the Award Foundation of the Arab Towns Organization during an official ceremony, likely to be held in Qatar in April.
This wide-ranging project based in Ahmadi province of southern Kuwait, has been a great contributor to the vital development of Fahaheel’s city center. The project has been instrumental in helping the city to become an important economic entity in Kuwait, with a distinct cultural and architectural identity.
“It is a great honor to be the only Kuwaiti company to represent Kuwait in this major Arab competition. This recognition indicates the growth and development of the real estate sector in the country,” said Mohammed Jasim-Al Marzouk, CEO, Tamdeen Real Estate Company.
‘The Architectural Project Award’ is now in its ninth year, and is awarded to the best project in Arab City, that draws inspiration from an Arab/Islamic architecture, which involves application of traditional architectural elements that are adapted to meet contemporary requirements.
Fahaheel Waterfront project, worth KD23mn, is a commercial, cultural and entertainment project, spreading across 200,000 km of land area. Situated along the 1.6km Fahaheel fishing harbor, it is a true combination of natural beauty of the sea and complimentary building architecture design.
The Fahaheel Waterfront project is the first phase of Madinat Al-Fahaheel development, which includes several phases of construction, such as Al-Manshar Complex in phase two, and Al Manshar Rotana Hotel in phase three. Madinat Al-Fahaheel includes other project development aspects too, that are currently in their designing stage.
The evaluation committee evaluated the project based on criteria such as internationally recognized architectural, urban, technical, environmental and cultural standards. Al-Kout has already won several prestigious awards, including the ‘The Award of Excellence’ from the American Concrete Institure (ACI) Kuwait Chapter, in 2004.
