GCC nationals prefer to work in Kuwait public, private sectors

Kuwait is the top destination for GCC nationals who wish to work in government and private sectors, said a report by GCC Secretariat yesterday. The report was released ahead of the GCC Summit in Kuwait during the 10th and 11th December.

With more than 10,000 GCC nationals working in Kuwait in 2012, about 65.4 percent of total GCC nationals worked in government sectors and rest in the Arab Gulf countries.

Kuwait was followed by the UAE, with more than 3700 employees of GCC countries, followed by Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Among the Gulf nationals working in other member states, Saudis came first with 10,054 employees, followed by Omanis, Bahrainis, UAE, Qatar and Kuwaitis.

About 15,343 people were registered in private sector in 2012, with 75 percent of overall number of GCC nationals working in private sectors in other member nations. This is followed by Saudi Arabia as the second best destination with 1867 Gulf nationals, UAE with 1485 employees, Qatar with 751 people, Bahain with 716 nationals and Oman with 113 gulf nationals.
