Kuwait most-preferred destination for GCC job seekers
The State of Kuwait is among the most-favoured destination for the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) nationals seeking jobs, said a report issued by the GCC Secretariat. Further, the Kuwaitis constituted majority of property owners in the region, the report pointed out.
The GCC nationals working in private sector firms in Kuwait touched 19,000 in number, while those working in public sectors constituted only 11,000, in comparison to the total of 37,000 working in government sectors in other five GCC nations, the report pointed out.
The number of workers at GCC private sector firms grew steadily from 6,729 in 1995 to 21,351 in 2010. On the other hand, workers in government institutions in GCC grew from 9,070 in 2004 to 15,846 in 2010, the report revealed.
As for the real estate sector, the report said that number of Kuwait owners in the GCC nations topped with 4,158 in number, followed by UAE nationals at 2,474, Bahrainis with 1846, Saudis with 1204, Qataris with 544, and Omanis at 431.
However, UAE is the most-favoured destination for real estate owners from GCC, registering 4,604 acquisitions, which constitutes 43percent of the total in 2010. This is followed by 4,370 acquisitions or 41 percent by Sultanate of Oman, followed by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.
