Growth in employment opportunities in Gulf region
Growing employment opportunities in the Gulf region are continuing to draw in people into the Middle East, with the region witnessing an 8percenr growth in employment during June 2011, in comparison to the previous month.
The Monster Employment Index, which analyzed the online job demand in the region, revealed that the index is as aggregate measure of change in job listings across the industry.
According to the June results, Bahrain and Kuwait reflected growth in employment opportunities, as they have recorded their maximum increase over the past six months.
While Kuwait witnessed 23percent growth in employment rate, Bahrain topped the region with 32percent growth. However, Qatar saw a 3percent decline, while Oman and Egypt saw their employment rates fall by 17percent and 13percent respectively.
The Managing Director of Monster.com for India, South East Asia and Middle East, Sanjay Modi, mentioned that the latest growth in Monster Employment Index Gulf has been largely due to growing demand for professionals in various categories including customer service, legal and banking and finance.
The growth in these sectors have been, however, counterbalanced by drop in tourism and hospitality sectors, caused by reduced tourism during the summer months.
Over the past six months, there have been several trends noticed across various sectors in the industry with 44% growth in banking and financial services. The insurance sector recorded growth of 33percent in comparison to the May report.
The advertising, market research and public relations grew by 17% over the past six months, with retail expanding 9percent, while the engineering, construction and real estate recorded their first month of positive growth since March.
On the other hand, production, manufacturing, automotive and ancillary dropped by 23percent during the past six months, while the hospitality sector fell by 46% and the fall continued in June.
According to the research, the customer service segment is the sector that has witnessed maximum growth so far this year. It continued to be the leading occupation with 8percent growth in month-over-month online demand. Event the healthcare segment recorded growth during the past six months.
On the other hand, although there has been a drop of more than 10percent in the sales and business development during the past six months, in June 2011, the decline was rather less dramatic, in comparison to previous month.
