Government to look into pay-scale of teachers
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Ahmad Al-Mulaifi in Kuwait, mentioned that the pay-scale motion of teachers is out of the Parliament at present, and the government is all set to deal with it as per the Constitution.
Al Mulaifi pointed out that the Council of Ministers has refused to pass the motion, as parliament approved in its discussion that the government has accomplished more than that mentioned in the motion.
As per the details of the motion, an allowance of KD150 will be paid to all supervisors, KD200 for Master’s Degree holders, KD400 for PhD holders, and the excellent duty will be raised to KD1500 annually. Teachers who pass the training courses by the Civil Service Commission will be offered bonuses upto KD1000 during a particular school year.
Kuwaiti teachers are also eligible for indemnities equivalent to their combined salaries for one and a half years, after having spent 30 years (for male teachers) and 25 years (for female teachers) in service. The decision is also applicable to those who are compelled to retire owing to medical reasons, and for those with 50 percent or more disability, irrespective of the number of years of service.
The pay-scale motion was approved by the Parliament last week.
