Pay hike announced for expat teachers
The rate of unemployment in Kuwait dropped to four percent last month, down from 4.1percent in November.
The number of jobseekers fell to 5,745 from 145,000 which represents the national workforce, said Dr. Majeed Al Alawi, the Labour Minister.
Women job seekers form majority of the bulk, with 4,453 in number, while the unemployed men stood at 1,292 in number. The jobseekers who qualified for the Insurance against Unemployment Scheme stood at 2187 last month (1487 women and 700 men). Out of these, 996 were University graduates, while 1,191 holds no academic qualifications.
The Ministry also reported 9375 new vacancies with 4380 vacancies for men and 1073 for women while 3922 open for both. The Ministry has also announced a total of 1342 training opportunities for jobseekers.
In the meanwhile, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced increase in salaries for non-Kuwaiti teachers and has introduced a housing allowance for them.
