Measures taken to resolve issue of citizen layoffs in private sector
The Government in Kuwait has taken significant steps towards resolving the issue concerning lay offs of Kuwaitis in the private sector, the sources revealed.
The Council of Ministers in Kuwait studied several proposals to tackle the increasing number of Kuwaitis being laid off from their jobs in private sector.
The Ministerial taskforce has been assigned the task of resolving the matter, and is drawing up its possible solutions, which will be reported to the Cabinet next week.
An official source revealed that the taskforce has proposed the idea of establishing a fund to pay monthly salaries to affected citizens, till they find alternative jobs. The Civil Service Commission will, in future, scrutinize the contracts of Kuwaitis to be employed in private sector.
Focusing on this issue, the sources revealed that copies of contracts with private sector in future will have to be sent to the Commission, in order to protect the rights of prospective employees. The Commission’s legal department will keep track of the clauses mentioned in the contract.
