Nurses flock to grab hospital jobs at the Ministry
Ever-since the recent announcement about the opportunities for 2000 nurses in the government health sector in Kuwait, nurses from all over Kuwait and South Asia have been flocking to submit their applications, it has been said.
Although the recruitment campaign for new nurses ended, several job-seekers are continuing to appear on the Sabah Health Area’s Nursing Department Offices, anticipating that their names too would be called for pre-qualifying examinations.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) had earlier announced that it would recruit an additional 2000 nurses to fill-in the shortages in local public hospitals, following the approval by the Cabinet for the same, last month. Several of these nurses are hoped to be hired locally.
A nursing department official has already confirmed that they have stopped accepting applications, but, the submitted applications would be screened.
Passing a nursing exam is mandatory to qualify for the nursing position with the Ministry of Health. After submitting applications, the pre-screening would be done, and applicants will have to wait for their names to be called either by telephone or the names would be listed in the department notice board.
The applicants are required to possess minimum three years of nursing experience at a hospital, before applying for the position. Experienced nurses in private clinics will have to submit a “No-Objection Certificate” from their employers.
Although the nurses in the private sector hospitals are also hired by MoH, they are paid much lower salaries than in the government hospitals. Due to this, several nurses already working in private hospitals are also seeking jobs in government sector.
