Ministry clarifies ban on family visas to expatriates
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Kuwait has clarified that it has no plans to curb the issuing of family visas to the parents and siblings of expatriates holding a valid Kuwaiti Residency Visa.
The Ministry, in its statement, denied all reports published in local dailies on Monday, claiming it to be false reports.
The Director of General Department of Immigration, Brig. Kamel Al-Awadhi, however, agreed that the Ministry proposes to ban the issuing of visas to expatriates’ parents, as doing so may help reduce pressure on local hospitals.
Brig. Al-Awadhi, who spoke to Qais Al-Demari, the Assistant Under-Secretary for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Health, said that the Head of Immigration Department emphasized that any proposal needs approval of senior ministry officials and Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid before implementation.
