Private and Public companies urged to adhere to construction rules for the disabled
The National Assembly Speaker, Jassem Al-Khorafi, emphasizing on the importance of adhering to the construction guidelines, particularly, in the case of people with special needs, said that it would make things easier for this section of the society, if they are provided with home facilities that meet their specific requirements.
In his statement to the KUNA, Al-Khorafi said that Kuwait has been in need of such regulations for a long time now.
The Municipal Council Technical Committee, in its meeting on Thursday, approved five percent increase in the permitted construction surface area of houses used by people with disabilities, and that the architectural conditions stipulated should be on par with international standards in this area.
Al-Khorafi said that such a regulation is a “necessity” to offer better life for those with special requirements and to guarantee their safety and security. Al-Khorafi also appreciated the quick response on the part of the Head and members of the Municipal Council’s Technical Committee, all of which led to the preparation of this list.
Al Khorafi pointed out that this measure is inline with the effort by the Parliament to support people with special needs, and said that all private and public facilities should adhere to what has been stated in the regulations, aiming this segment with the means to integrate into the society as a whole.
