Proposal submitted to recruit only Kuwaitis for Government contracts
The Fatwa and Legislation Department, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, has presented a study to the Cabinet, which suggests that contractors, who win government contracts may be compelled to recruit only Kuwaitis.
The Cabinet is seriously considering the Kuwaitization proposal, with the ministry preparing exclusive report on the type of jobs suitable for Kuwaitis, and the salaries and perks to be offered for such jobs, reveal ministerial sources.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at the Interior Ministry, Dr. Mustapha al-Zabi, said that the government is trying to completely stop the problem of marginal labourers in the country.
In the meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has directed the government agencies to stop engaging or renewing the services of expat retirees, until the new regulations are issued in that regard. A senior CSC official announced that retirees, whose services remain valid, can continue until their expiry date.
The retired officials who have been rendering their services until their contracts that have been expired, are renewed, are required to stop work by end of August, the official directed.
