Kuwait to recruit 4751 expatriate teachers and 440 expats for other jobs
The Minister of Education in Kuwait, Dr. Nouriya Al-Subeeh, on Monday, said the cabinet has allocated 4751 teaching jobs for expatriates for the coming educational year.
The jobs requiring specializations in physics, chemistry, English, Arabic and French, are unattractive for Kuwaiti teachers, Dr. Nouriya said during the weekly cabinet meeting.
“The cabinet has approved allocation of 440 other jobs such as psychiatrists, sociologists, school lab staffers, lawyers and accountants too,” she revealed.
According to Al-Subeeh, her ministry requires filling up these vacancies through overseas contracting with Arab countries, to meet the ministry’s aggressive plan for advancement.
“The new academic year will see the opening of 46 new schools, which will reduce the class strength to 25 to reduce the burden on teachers. The ministry has also sent delegations to Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt to arrange contracts with selected teachers. We are also working with Ministry of Interior to end the red tape relating to visa and residence permits of the new comers, and to book flight tickets to bring them her,” she pointed out.
The Kuwaiti Prime Minister, H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has showed keenness on choosing the best overseas teachers to promote educational development of Kuwait, Al-Subeeh added.
