Private and Public sector pay-hike to be effective from 19th April
The KD120 salary increment for Kuwaiti employees working in private and public sectors, and the KD 50 increment for expatriates serving in the public sector will be paid from 19th April, according to Mohammed Al-Roumi, Undersecretary, Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Following a meeting with the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program (GMRP) officials, Al-Roumi declared that CSC has begun updating the salary system so as to help citizens and expatriates cope with the rising cost of living in the country.
He revealed that CSC will co-ordinate with other departments and up-date the pension of retirees as they too are included in the increment. The Commission has also agreed to work with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to facilitate procedures for hike in payment given to the needy, who are dependent on the financial support provided by the Ministry.
He revealed that the increment will be made applicable beginning 19th April. The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) will update the salary system to ease the salary transfer procedures at local banks.
According to sources, the government had approved a budget of KD 151,700,000 for the increment, apart from KD 135 million for the new pay scale to oil sector workers, doctors, and Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) employees, effective 1st of March.
