Ministry reiterates the need to update private sector employee files
The Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, Dr Saleh Al-Sheikh, has strictly emphasized the need for updating the files of the employees in private sector, towards end of this year.
This is being done as a part of the automation project, so that the Ministry need not suspend files of defaulters and issue citations against them. The Ministry has warned that it would have to resort to such measures, in case the firms fail to take action, despite their repeated reminders.
Speaking during a press conference, Al-Sheikh revealed the public sector plans for the coming year, including, revamping the role of Mubarak Al-Kabir Department, to reduce pressure on other labour departments. The ministry also plans to intensify inspection campaigns to ensure that private sectors do not have women employees working over-night, and said that the private sectors would be inspected to ensure that the presence of citizens at the helm of affairs in private sector companies.
Al-Sheikh said that the automation project is complete, with more than 50 government and private sector agencies being linked with Ministry’s database, and that there is enough co-ordination with banks to ensure that workers’ salaries are automatically transferred to their accounts.
During the coming year, the Ministry aims to approve special salary scales and allowances, among many other things, which would be forwarded to the Minister and Undersecretary for approval and implementation, said Al-Sheikh.
