Mandatory seven-hour work days for public sector employees

The government departments and other public sector enterprises have begun implementing the mandatory seven hour work days.

The Ministry of Works, Electricity and Water has issued circulars to their respective personnel, ordering them to abide by the new regulations that took effect last Tuesday.

According to Kuwait Civil Service Commission directive, the government employees are required to work 7 hours a day, irrespective of whether it is summer or winter.
As per the directive, the total work hours are seven hours per day from Sunday to Thursday (7.30am to 2.30pm) for some employees, and for majority of the other government institutions (8am to 3pm).

The Civil Service Commission dismissed the rumours in the social media about the work hours of government offices.
