Government nod for replacement of 17,000 expats with Kuwaitis in private sector

The Secretary General of the Government and Manpower Restructuring Program (GMRP), Fawzi Al-Magdali, revealed that there is a proposal to increase the number of Kuwaitis in private sector. This proposal was submitted to create job opportunities for 17,000 Kuwaitis, as replacement for expatriates. The proposal has been approved, it has been confirmed.

The new percentage will not exceed 75 percent of the total workforce in every establishment.

Emphasizing on one of the major amendments suggested, he said that the rate of national workforce in banking sector will be raised from 64 to 70 percent, 60 to 65 percent in communications sector, from 18 to 22 percent in insurance sector, from 12 to 15 percent in money exchange sector, 10 to 12 percent in Arabic private education sector and from 5 to 10 percent in English education.
