Minimum monthly wages set at KD75 for private and oil sector workers

Ministerial decision number 14/2017 set the minimum monthly wages paid for workers in the private and oil sectors at KD75, Ahmad Al-Moussa, Acting Director of Public Authority of Manpower said.

This decision is applicable for new or renewed contracts, including government ones, signed following the issuance of decision.  Further explaining the authority’s systems, he said it will not accept wages less than the number mentioned above.

Meanwhile, Moussa announced amending the work permit issuing mechanism. He explained that the amendments include cancelling the work permits committee and including new lines of business. For this, employers would be divided into three categories including one for company owned by the government, or those in which the government owns 25 percent of the shares like hospitals, clinic, insurance, banks, investment companies and hotels.
