Passport / Visa Requirements
Visas and Passports are required for all visitors traveling to Kuwait. Earlier, the visa could be obtained from a local sponsor or hotel sponsor, upon submission of a copy of passport. Beginning March 2004, the Interior Ministry announced their decision, permitting thirty four countries (including USA, Australia, France, Canada, Italy, Britain, Portugal, Germany and other European countries) to obtain a Visa at the airport on arrival.
It is better to check with your travel agent for nationalities included in this decision. However, Arab countries, Eastern Europe and Southern Asian Nations are excluded from this decision.
Travelers who overstay their visa will attract serious fines when leaving Kuwait. Tourist passport should be valid for a minimum of six months, beyond the date of intended stay. A non-GCC national whose country has a visa abolition treaty with Kuwait, permitting Kuwaitis to enter their country without a visa, may be granted reciprocal entry rights.
Kuwait also issues multiple entry visas to certain categories of people such as businessmen, permitting the holder to enter the country any number of times within a stipulated time frame.
