Kuwait Stock Exchange
The Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) is the national stock market of the State of Kuwait. Although, there were several shareholding companies in Kuwait prior to the creation of KSE, there was no law passed until October 1962 to organize the stock market of the country.
The KSE is among the first and largest stock exchanges in the Persian Gulf region, and is now gaining prominence as one of the most potentially important exchanges in the world.
Among the major responsibilities of the KSE are to direct and rationalize dealing in stocks and securities so as to develop and stabilize security dealings in a safe manner, rendering appropriate advice to competent government authorities regarding financial status of Stock Exchange member companies, participating with competent authorities to realize co-ordination and integration among financial and economic development and stability of the state, introducing modern techniques as those applied in advanced stock markets for sound financial positioning of KSE at regional and international levels and to promote investment awareness among nationals and create means for investment of funds in securities.
