Kuwait Towers
Located on Arabian Gulf Road in Sharq district, the Kuwait Towers is one of the famous landmarks in Kuwait. Built in March 1979, it comprises two major towers and a minor tower. There are 55,000 circular steel plates surrounding the towers, painted with 8 different colors. The concrete needle-shaped towers are white and tipped with aluminum. The circular plate renders a great view from the outside, particularly during the day.
The size and uniqueness of the towers makes them one of the special architectural expressions of Middle East. Although designed by a Swedish Company, a Yugoslavian Company began construction of the towers in 1975, and they were officially unveiled to the public on 1st March 1979.
The uppermost sphere of the largest tower includes a revolving observation area, and a restaurant. Located 187mts above sea level, the Horizon Restaurant in the uppermost sphere serves lunch and dinner buffets with a new menu everyday, while also maintaining top level hospitality. This tower also includes ‘Le Café Coffee Shop’, and ‘Dasman Ballroom’, the best for special parties, events and business occasions. It also has an option of outside catering service to meet the requirements of elite weddings and other executive functions.
The lower sphere, also known as viewing sphere, is 123 meters above sea level, and enables visitors to get a wonderful view of Kuwait, as it rotates 360 degrees every half an hour. Visitors can also relax themselves at the cafeteria here which serve pastries, snacks and beverages.
The Middle Tower, 147 meters in height is a water reservoir, and the last tower is 113 meters above sea level and controls lighting for the other two towers.
Saturday to Thursday of every week from 8:00am to 11:30am, the 'Ofok Restaurant' is reserved for ladies only.
Kuwait Towers hosts the annual Ice Cream Festival, the Kuwaiti Meals Festival and the Chocolate Festival. There are also training halls offered with professional state-of-the-art equipments for training purposes.
